Ah Hum! Australian ten-piece Latin sensation, features singer/dancers, dynamic horns and powerful percussion, with Nepalese bassist Chi Thapa and pianist, Brendan Fitzgerald. Hailing from Chile, El Salvador, USA, Japan and Australia. These musicians have a wealth of international performing experience.

Ah Hum! Fuses driving rhythms, hot brass, saxophone, piano and bass lifting you to your feet with their infectious grooves of mambo, salsa, cumbia and cha cha cha. Mixing jazz arrangements with Afro-Cuban rhythms, this music cooks up a spicy melange of sounds.

Talented emerging jazz singer, Ashleigh Ellen and guitarist, Luka Polaine will perform pre-show entertainment in the foyer/bar area of the theatre at Brighton Performing Arts Centre prior to TAKE FIVE – The Dave Brubeck Story on 24th September. Ashleigh is studying Jazz Voice Performance at the Elder Conservatorium of Music. She began her musical journey at the age of 12, teaching herself to play piano and later discovered a passion for singing during high school. She became involved in events within her community in the Adelaide Hills: performing at school music nights, Open Mic nights, and in 2015, led the Mount Barker Carols in the Park. Since being accepted into the Jazz course at Adelaide University, Ashleigh’s unique voice has adapted to extend her repertoire, covering diverse musical genres. Come early to hear Ashley and Luka in the bar from 6:15 for a single set prior to the show (TAKE FIVE starts at 7:30pm).

We are bringing back our tribute to the music and life of the greatest cool jazz musician of the 50’s and 60’s Dave Brubeck, for its only Adelaide show of 2016 on Saturday 24th September. This follows our recent double bill at Glen Street Theatre, Sydney and forthcoming Melbourne show at Knox Community Centre Theatre on 3rd September.

Once again, Satomi Ohnishi, drums, Quinton Dunne, double bass and Peter Raidel, alto sax perform this seminal music with Brendan at the piano, recreating for you the indelible melodies and colliding rhythms of the Dave Brubeck Quartet.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see a show that has enjoyed rave responses from audiences in its previous outings in Adelaide and interstate.

To be staged in the theatre at Brighton Performing Arts Centre, Brighton Secondary School, 305 Brighton Road, North Brighton.

7:30 pm start for the two hour show including 20 minute interval. Doors open at 6pm with a bar open for beverages and pre-show entertainment.

Don’t miss your last opportunity in Adelaide to catch this unique tribute to the music and life of the greatest cool jazz musician of the 50’s and 60’s, Dave Brubeck: Saturday 24th September, 7:30pm, at Brighton Performing Arts Centre, Brighton Secondary School, 305 Brighton Road.

TAKE FIVE has enjoyed rave responses in its previous outings in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne. Satomi Ohnishi, drums, Quinton Dunne, double bass and Peter Raidel, alto sax perform this seminal music with Brendan at the piano, recreating the indelible melodies and colliding rhythms of the Dave Brubeck Quartet. Dave’s story is told by Brendan against a backdrop of archival images from his life and times, while French multimedia artist/videographer, Samuel Morin blends live vision of the musicians into the visual montage with a visually sensual and captivating effect.

Doors open at 6pm with foyer bar and pre-show entertainment by emerging talented jazz singer, Ashley Ellen and guitarist, Luka Polain.
