Due to unforeseen circumstances, I’ve regretably decided to withdraw further performances of TAKE FIVE and SWING productions. We will focus now on MOJITO! for 2018, so watch out for updates regarding the return of that show in early 2018. This includes dates in Sydney in early March and a possible remount for the Adelaide Fringe Festival in late February. Many thanks to all who have performed in TAKE FIVE and SWING since 2012 and to our audience members who have come to see these two productions these past few years. It means a lot to have had your positive input and feedback. Please continue to support live music and theatre.

Take_Five_Promethean_artwork_web

Take Five: the Dave Brubeck Story presents the music of the famous jazz quartet of the 1950’s and 60’s with images from Brubeck’s life and times through the eyes of 1940’s and 50’s radio presenter, Jimmy Lyons, who helped launch Dave’s career.

Presented as a radio broadcast with Brendan Fitzgerald narrating from the piano, Brubeck’s compositions are played using authentic transcriptions from the quartet’s famous albums.

The title is taken from the seminal ‘Take Five’, the highest selling jazz instrumental of all time, featured on the 1959 album, ‘Time Out’, the first platinum-selling jazz disc, moving more than one million copies.
